Week 6

Vista I hate you with a passion!!!!!! For some reason vista lost the drivers for my Mahashitsa dvd drive and tried re installing the driver and it still just wouldnt work. Eventually had to edit the registry and boomb got it to work. Absolute non sense.....

IE, looking forward to this week. Hopefully going to finish off our prototyping and get some feedback form the client who I presume are still in Africa on Holiday. Hope the Lions don't eat em up. Still working on the Db syncing stuff. Craig managed to upload the website but Go Daddy is having issues with bandwidth so no having much luck with that. In the end I guess you get what you pay 4. Cheap squat hosting = 100% downtime.

Things are heating up and stress levels are running high. Anxiety is building up! The end is almost there. Assignments are due, exams coming up......... Going to be good!!!!

Week5

Has been a considerably hectic week with stuff being due. For IE I guess the ball is rolling well. Yousef and have been working SQLyog to synchronize 2 copies of a database. Got to a point where changes have been reflected and the destination DB has been successfully updated but need to research how I can streamline this function to a great degree. Presently trying to get Windows Task Scheduler to execute sync scripts to update the destination DB. Still figuring...... Luckily I brought my wireless router to uni so we could create a test scenario to prototype the proposed solution. Its looking good though.

Have been trying to get tools to test vulnerabilities in source code for FIT3056. Was pretty ok, found some open source applications which does the job but I dont necessarily trust it as there is always vulnerabilities in code no matter how secure you try to make it. Cant wait for the end now........ A few more weeks to go... Come on guys we can do this thing.

Week4

Had been a pretty good week. Lots of work piling up but getting around to it. Ie has been going good. Yousef and I got all the prototyping reports working which were generated in crystal reports. Was really intuitive and fun working with crystal..... Learned a lot from these reports generating tasks.

Will be working on setting up a web server (IIS 6.0, Mysql 5.0) for testing pursposes. Also going to try and have to databases in sync for testing purposes again. Will be a good learning experience.

Helping Yousef with FIT3065 setting up wireshark. We going to capture packets from a telnet session with a remote system (My ubuntu server 7.10) and analyze these packets for passwords which are sent in clear text over the network thus Telnet being so vulnerable to attack. Would be good to see this working in reality.

Week3

Geees times seems to be going by to fast this semester. Already into week 4..... Cannot believe it. Stress levels are starting to rise and work work work. Have been working on the database and crystal reports. Crystal....absolutely powerful report generator. Love it! Trying to get a synchronization mechanism working between the offline and online database for MYSQL. Really interesting. Hope that I eventually get it working.

My other subjects pretty interesting. Really enjoying Fit2051, Fit2027 and Fit3056. The best best units I have done thus far. Have been playing around with Backtrack version 3. Absolutely powerful. Able to crack access points in less then 4 minutes depending on encryption schemes used but its a brilliant distro to have.

Looking forward to the end! I can see it coming.......
